CNC sheet nesting workflow

Prepare nested DXF layouts for compatible CNC cutting workflows.

Nest XL provides a machine-neutral preparation layer for flat DXF parts. Build the layout and business case locally, then pass the nested DXF into compatible CAM software for machine-specific toolpaths and code.

A complete workflow

More than automatic part placement.

Nest XL connects geometry preparation, nesting rules, material cost, machine time, quoting, reporting, and production output so the finished nest carries useful business information—not just coordinates.

01

Import and inspect

Load DXF geometry, quantities, dimensions, holes, open entities, and bend lines.

02

Apply constraints

Set rotation, mirror, grain, priority, groups, spacing, margins, and hole-nesting permissions.

03

Optimize sheet use

Arrange parts across one or more sheets while reviewing utilization and remaining material.

04

Hand off to CAM

Export the nested DXF under a valid license, then use compatible downstream software for tooling and machine code.

Control every part

Set the rules the way your shop needs them.

Use quantities, rotation increments, fixed orientation, mirroring permission, grain direction, priority, groups, spacing, margins, and nesting inside usable holes. Review open geometry and bend lines before they become production problems.

Cost and quote the actual job

Turn nesting data into a price you can defend.

Material usage, sheet cost, cut length, pierce count, cut speed, pierce delay, machine hourly cost, setup, shipping, tax, markup, and custom items can all contribute to a professional customer quote.

Estimated machine timeBuild estimates from cut length, pierces, speed, delay, and hourly rate.
Professional quote outputCreate branded PDF quotes with customer data, terms, notes, and validity.
Common questions

What shops usually ask.

Clear answers for evaluating Nest XL in a production workflow.

Does Nest XL generate G-code?

No. It exports nested DXF geometry for use in a compatible CAM workflow. Machine-specific tooling and G-code are handled downstream.

Which CNC machines can use the output?

Compatibility depends on whether your CAM workflow accepts the exported DXF geometry. Demo Mode lets you test your actual process.

Does it support mirrored parts?

Yes, with part-specific control so mirrored orientation is used only when permitted.

Can multiple sheet sizes be considered?

Yes. Corporate adds automatic selection from approved full-sheet sizes and available inventory.
